在歐洲及前蘇聯國家內，白俄羅斯為唯一一個仍然執行死刑的國家。

所有關於白俄羅斯死刑的資料全為機密，現時沒有任何其死刑的統計。不過，國際特赦組織估計，自1991年白俄羅斯獨立以來，多達400人遭處決。於2008年，最少4人遭處決及1人被判死刑。

待刑死囚，只會在行刑前才知自己行將處決，他們會被槍殺，後腦中彈，而家屬不會獲發還遺體，只會在槍決後收到通知。遺體埋葬的地點亦保密，使親屬更感悲痛。

立刻採取行動：簽名要求盧卡申科 (Lukashenka) 總統宣佈立即中止執行死刑。

在歐洲及前蘇聯內，白俄羅斯為唯一一個仍然執行死刑的國家。所有死刑，國際特赦組織一律反對，而且死刑違反《國際人權公約》所宣揚的生存自由，為極殘酷、不人道及可恥的刑罸。

本人促請貴國政府：

－以2008年12月18日聯合國大會63/168決議對廢除死刑的觀點，立即中止所有死刑的判處及執行；

－立即對所有待刑死囚，以有期監禁代替死刑。

Dear President Lukashenka:

Belarus is the last country in Europe and in the former Soviet Union that is still carrying out executions. Amnesty International opposes the death penalty in all cases without exception. It violates the right to life as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment.

I urge your government to:

* immediately establish a moratorium on all death sentences and executions with a view to abolishing the death penalty as provided by the UN General Assembly resolution 63/168 adopted on 18 December 2008.

* commute without delay the sentences of all prisoners currently on death row to terms of imprisonment.
