The UDHR 60th Anniversary Poster Design Contest Prize Presentation

The UDHR 60th Anniversary Poster Design Contest Prize Presentation had been successfully held on January 15th, 2009 at the office of Amnesty International Hong Kong (AIHK).
Director of AIHK, Milabel Cristobal, expressed her heart-felt gratitude for the participation of students as well as teachers and parents who had encouraged them to learn about human rights.

AIHK was honored to have Consul (Political/ Public Relations) Paule Ignatio from the Consulate-General of France in Hong Kong as our guest. In her opening address Ms. Ignatio said that the anniversary of the UDHR, which was signed in Paris in 1948, was an occasion to reassert the universality and indivisibility of human rights.

AIHK was also very grateful for the support of the Consulate-General of France in Hong Kong & Macau, which sponsored the poster contest by offering a round-trip air ticket to Paris. The winner of the air ticket was encouraged to explore the culture of France, the country where the UDHR was signed. On behalf of the Consulate-General of France, Ms. Ignatio presented the prizes to the winning students, and congratulated them in their excellent achievements through their creativity and concern for human rights.

The poster design contest was held by AIHK in October 2008 as part of a series of activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the UDHR. Participation was enthusiastic and more than 300 entries from more than 40 schools in Hong Kong were received. Seeman Ho, visual and comic artist and poet, Tai-keung Kan, designer and painter, and cartoonist Zunzi were invited as the panel of judges. Altogether 16 prizes were presented, including a first prize, a second prize, a third prize and five outstanding prizes in two categories—junior (F.1-3 / Class 7-9) and senior (F.4-7 / Class 10-13).
