正值軟禁期滿的兩星期，緬甸政府以含糊的罪名拘捕「全國民主聯盟」領袖昂山素?，昂山素?及其兩名同伴將於 5月17日 (星期一) 面對審判，只因她的居所被一位不速之客闖入！現在她和兩名同伴已和緬甸其他 2,100 多人同樣成為政治犯。我們必須盡力影響緬甸鄰近國家，促請這些國家向緬甸施壓；聯合國和東南亞國家聯盟(東盟)的所有成員國必須發出明確訊息，告訴緬甸軍政府的將軍們，他們將無法再免除責任。付出你時間，拿出你的承擔，參與我們的行動，與昂山素?一起為爭取自由而奮鬥！ Just two weeks before her house detention was due to expire, Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of Myanmar’s National League for Democracy, was arrested on highly dubious charges. She and two female companions are facing trial in connection with a recent incident in which an uninvited intruder stayed in her home for two days. They are now among more than 2,100 political prisoners currently being held in prison in Myanmar. We must use the influence of those around Myanmar neighbours to pressure the military junta to free Aung San Suu Kyi immediately. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is best placed to make representations within the country. And the UN must send an unequivocal signal to the generals that they can no longer act with impunity.
