The Hong Kong Coalition for a Free Burma (HKCFB) is hosting a visit by Khin Ohmar from Burma Partnership (BP), an organization in Mae Sot on the Thai-Burma border that seeks to be a bridge between the people inside Burma with the solidarity actions of others around the world. Ohmar will be in Hong Kong on Feb. 5 and 6, and the coalition has organized the following activities to take advantage of her presence here:

February 5
Demonstration at the Burmese consulate in Wan Chai and a march to the Cheung Kong Center in Central (Cheung Kong is a major investor in Burma.)

Press conference
Time: 3:30pm – 4:30pm
Venue: Foreign Correspondents’ Club, 2 Lower Albert Road, Central
Content: Khin Ohmar will discuss the recent human rights situation in Burma and the Burma Partnership’s position on the upcoming elections

Roundtable discussion with local and regional NGOs
Time: 5:00pm – 7:00pm
Venue: Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC), 16/F, Go-Up Commercial Building, 998 Canton Road
Content: How can Hong Kong organizations support the human rights movement in Burma?

Street forum
Time: 7:00 pm onwards
