「每年都有多於50萬因妊娠併發症或分娩而死亡 ─ 每分鐘一宗。」絕大多數的婦女都是窮人或來自發展中國家，譬如於布基納法索，每年就有超過二千名婦女因妊娠併發症或分娩而死亡。

當地婦女對性與生殖健康和權利(包括墮胎的權利)缺乏認識，她們無權決定是否生育、何時生育或孩子的數目，並要負擔昂貴的醫療費和忍受差劣的醫療質數。

立即與國際特赦組織採取行動!呼籲布基納法索政府改善產婦保健和維護婦女的生命權。

"More than half a million women die each year from complications related to pregnancy and childbirth – one every minute." The vast majority of women who die are poor and come from developing countries, such as Burkina Faso, where more than 2,000 women die from complications of pregnancy and childbirth.

Women suffer from lack of information on sexual and reproductive health and rights including on abortion, low status in law and social practice permitting early marriages, which undermines their right to decide whether, when and how many children to have, and the cost and quality of medical treatment is also a major threat.
