As part of our global campaign on the abolition of the death penalty, Amnesty International issues an annual report that summarizes our global research on the death penalty as a reference for governments, non-governmental organizations and individual decision makers. Amnesty International believes the death penalty is a violation of the right to life and is a form of cruel, degrading, and irreversible punishment.
