GOOD NEWS! Chen Zhenping reunited with her family
On 9 October, former prisoner of conscience Chen Zhenping arrived at Helsinki airport in Finland and was reunited with her family. Chen Zhenping was released from prison on 9 March after serving over six and a half years sentence in China. After her release, she was harassed and remained under tight surveillance, and there were concerns about her health and access to medical treatment. It is an encouraging news that she is now free and has access to any medical care she needs.
Many thanks to all those that have taken action for Chen Zhenping over the last few years.
Chen Zhenping was detained in July 2008 and was sentenced with "using a heretical organization to subvert the law". Chen was tortured while in detention, including regular beatings, being forcibly injected with drugs and given electric shocks on sensitive parts of her body.
