台灣NGO工作者李明哲遭中國以「從事危害國家安全活動」拘捕

台灣NGO工作者李明哲,早前在澳門入境中國,原替其岳母安排醫療事宜,但被當局以「從事危害國家安全活動」拘捕。李明哲是中國新《境外非政府組織管理法》生效後,第一名遭到拘留的外國非政府組織工作者。

▍李明哲於文山社區大學任職,他多年支持公民社會組織和來自中國的行動者。

Taiwan NGO Worker Lee Ming Cheh Held Incommunicado in China

Lee Ming-cheh, a Taiwanese NGO worker, has been detained by the Chinese authorities for ‘engaging in activities to endanger national security' when he attempted to enter China from Macau.

▍Manager of an NGO in Taipei, Wenshan Community College, Lee Ming-cheh has supported civil society organizations and activists for many years in China. Lee was visiting China for personal matters as he was arranging medical treatment for his mother-in-law.

Act Now! Urge the Chinese authorities to release Lee Ming-cheh.

死刑對香港人來說,好像有點遙遠 –1993年香港立法局正式通過廢除死刑,最後一次執行死刑亦已經是1966年;然而,近日有香港人於印尼被判死刑,而一直以來,亦屢有港人於東南亞判死的案件;到底他們為何被判死,面對當地的貪污及不公平審訊又如何求助?香港人去東南亞地區旅遊,也有可能誤觸法例而有被判死的風險嗎?

今次人權星期五,一直關注港人於東南亞地區判死問題國際特赦組織香港分會高級策劃幹事陳文慧會以活動形式,帶大家認識這些個案,亦一同探討現時東南亞時局與港人判死的關係。

好消息 GOOD NEWS

日本: 和平示威者獲保釋外出

現年64歲的山城博治,在三月十七日的保釋審訊後一日獲釋。

山城博治為反對美國海軍於沖繩興建軍營的行動者。他於上年十月十七日被捕,而在被扣留的五個月間,山城博治未能與其家人聯絡。而他唯一一次與妻子見面,已經是三月十三日,歷時二十分鐘。

我們感謝為山城博治作出聲援的會員及支持者。

 
JAPAN: Peaceful activists released on bail

Hiroji Yamashiro, 64, was released on bail on the evening of 18 March 2017, a day after his first court hearing.

Arrested on 17 October 2016 for his role in protests against the construction of new U.S. Marine Corps facilities in Okinawa, Hiroji Yamashiro had been held in detention for five months under restrictive conditions and without access to his family. The first and only time he was able to see his wife was on 13 March 2017 for 20 minutes, less than one week before his release.
