Human Rights Symposium : Human Rights of Hong Kong in the past 35 years

Date:2017.12.9 (Sat)
Time:1:30-6:00 pm
Venue:University of Hong Kong (Academic Conference Room, 11/F, Cheng Yu Tung Tower, Centennial Campus)
Language:Cantonese Only

Amnesty International Hong Kong was officially established in 1982. Over these 35 years, we have witnessed the development of Hong Kong and the change of local human rights situation. The freedom of peaceful assembly and the freedom of expression have been seemingly shrinking; the debate on National Education is getting more intense.

This year marks AIHK's 35th Anniversary. To echo the Human Rights Day, we will hold the "Human Rights Symposium : Human Rights of Hong Kong in the past 35 years". The talk is divided into two sessions: "Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Ordinance" and "Human Rights and Civil Education". We are honoured to have invited speakers from academia, social movement and education sector to review on the past and prospect of Hong Kong's human rights condition through discussion.

YOUR WORDS HAVE POWER -Write for Rights 2017

Sometimes a letter can change someone’s life. That’s the premise of Write for Rights, Amnesty’s global letter-writing campaign. We’ve been doing it for 15 years and today, it’s the world’s biggest human rights event.

Every December, Amnesty supporters across the globe will write millions of letters for those whose basic human rights are being attacked. They are people like you, the people who are continuing a long tradition of writing letters to right some of the world's biggest wrongs.

This year, our support will be directed to 10 human rights defenders and groups represented all regions of the world

And it’s not just letters – it could be petitions, emails, Facebook posts, photos, postcards. Your words really can change lives. Join us at http://w4r.amnesty.org.hk
